NOTE: Although some of the computer and software development tutorials are very old they cover the foundation principals that current programs, networks and operating systems are built on. Newer versions of older software add back end services, additional security and user enhancements. The foundation skills still have to be learned and using legacy products is an in-expensive way to pick up skills. However, this principal does not apply to Operating Systems! Newer OSes have very different architectures that do not co-exist on the same computer unless dual booting on different drive partitions. The term 'Computer Basics' or 'Beginning subjects' does NOT imply that they are quick learning or simple. The terms mean that these are core skills that need to be learned toward professional careers in Offices, Technology, Engineering or Programming. These courses, subjects and lesson subjects are not meant to be accomplished in one sitting. Practicing these skills as you go will reinforce the techniques and prevent hunting around for solutions to problems that pop up from lack of experience. Take your time! Practice the skill, then move on, and then --- keep moving. Students that are going into Personal Computer (PC) Repair / Certification need to have a working knowledge of all of the skills in the Basic subjects, as well as some in the Intermediate and Advanced computer subjects. Confused?? Start at the "Begin Here" in the upper 'Computers' menu and when completed the instructor can help you determine an appropriate place to continue within these courses. By then you will probably have a clear idea of which direction you want to go. |
