Some History
These songs are not mine.. well, not all. I sang most of these in coffee houses and restaurants in Canada, Mexico, and other places in the 70s and 80s.
In the late 60s and early 70s a few different social movements began in the youth of the United States and the world. One of those movements was generally called (by Time Magazine) the Jesus Revolution. Youth all over the world were embracing salvation in Christ and early church Christianity as the solution to the worlds problems. There were several movements with various names, like the Jesus People, Jesus houses etc. During that time there were quite a few songs written that were not in the main-stream churches. The young people were using these songs for singing in the streets, bus stops, at parks, rallies, festivals and anywhere else they felt individuals would respond.
These songs are witnessing songs - taking personal witnessing to the streets. The songs reflected hope as well as exposing despair, pain and hypocrisy in society with the solution of Eternal Life anywhere and everywhere people could be found.
My involvement with music started at a university campus coffee shop in 1972 and the simplicity of the words and music changed my life as I began to follow Christ. I want to preserve as many of the messages and tunes that I can remember. Some of the original authors are now deceased and others have long since moved on to other services for the Lord. Those I sang and performed with I truly miss.
These songs were born in the time frame of late '67 to about '89. I used many of these while singing and playing in restaurants, shopping malls, parks and street fairs all over the world. It is my hope that, though not perfect, they touch you now as they touched me then.
Notes
I recorded all of the parts and pieces of these songs in my little home studio. Most are older songs of the early Jesus movement days but I made a few of my own along with some instrumentals for the fun and honing of my skills. As the songs are 'roughed in' they are posted here, even though they are not "final mix" or polished quality. Some are proof of concept mixes (pretty bad) and will be re-worked again later. As better mixes or tracks are made they are re-posted so check back often for the latest, better versions.
