18.1 Have You Found a Bug?

If you are not sure whether you have found a bug, here are some guidelines:

• If a binary utility gets a fatal signal, for any input whatever, that isa bug. Reliable utilities never crash.

• If a binary utility produces an error message for valid input, that is abug.
• If you are an experienced user of binary utilities, your suggestions forimprovement are welcome in any case.
